How we track newly licensed contractors

The data behind First Call Feed comes straight from state licensing boards — assembled, normalized, and verified so it's actually usable.

Sources

Official state contractor-licensing boards. Each state publishes differently — some as full active rosters, some as dated issuances — and each is handled on its own terms.

Freshness

Pulled weekly. Where a state publishes issue dates, "new" is the licenses issued in the window; where it publishes a full roster, new licenses are found by diffing each week's pull against a baseline.

Validation

Every source runs through a validation layer that re-checks output against the live record. A feed that ships bad data is worse than no feed.

FAQ

Where does the data come from?

Directly from state contractor-licensing boards — the official public records — pulled on a schedule per source.

How often is it updated?

Every Monday. New licenses are detected by change-tracking against a per-state baseline.

How do you keep it accurate?

Each source has its own validation layer that re-checks output against the live record, so nothing ships unverified.
